Who We Are
Our lawyers come from diverse backgrounds. In addition to having been among the top performers at law schools across Canada, a number of our lawyers have had other successful careers prior to practising law. Such experience engenders both a pragmatic approach to the practice of law and a heightened sensitivity to the commercial realities face="Verdana" by our clients. Examples of the fields in which our lawyers have had previous careers include banking, corporate finance, accounting, engineering, media, natural resources, education and government service at the municipal, provincial and federal levels. The various provincial and federal agencies and ministries with which members of the firm have worked include Revenue Canada, the Ontario Securities Commission and the planning departments of several Ontario municipalities.

Lawyers in the firm are actively involved in governmental matters and in initiatives to develop public policy and legislative changes that are important to the commercial activities of our clients. The relationships that we have developed with all levels of government through such involvement enable us to provide clients with effective communication with government authorities.

The lawyers at Aird & Berlis LLP are well recognized for the leadership roles they have played in the Canadian business community in a wide variety of local, national and international organizations. They serve on boards of directors and hold office in some of the largest and most diverse corporations operating in Canada and charitable, political, cultural and social organizations supporting education, youth, health, community development and the arts.
